UM, I need to just say that I love our gay neighbor. He transferred here for the second semester, his name is Chris, and he's super-fab.

He came in here to get his hair straightener back from my roommate and we chatted, LoL

He also has a Legend of Zelda Hyrule-style belt buckle and for that I'm extremely jealous.

On the note of cool people, I really can't wait to go into Illustration next year and actually start seeing people more regularly/getting to know people in a major! I liked a lot of the people I shared first semester classes with (it's almost like I shared 2 or 3 classes with most of them), but I never see them now.

Fuck I love Triscuits. And why the goddamn fuck am I reading Harry Potter fanfiction, anyway?

Housing Lottery

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Oh yay!
Well, looks like I'm lucky enough to have gotten back into the Res next year-- my group and I applied for one of the suites with 4 single rooms instead of 2 doubles (like I live in now) since there were more of them available (6 as opposed to only 2 doubles suites!!) and, well... I WANT MY OWN ROOM.

:B

And we were Lotto number 6!! Out of 6! Hahaha. We'll probably even get bumped up because somebody above us might have gotten an apartment anyway and was just using the lotto for backup. Who knows?

Anyway, that's pretty awesome.

Oh, and my personal lotto number was 33. Not bad, not bad!

Needless to say, I'm pretty happy about it. Yeah, I could've gotten an apartment, but the Res is just so convenient. I'll happily live off campus my junior and/or senior year, but next year I start my major and I want everything to be just right. I would hate to stress about rent and commuting while I have projects due. :P

Anyway, time to stop rambling and start finishing up commissions!
(I'm also excited to get that dress... hopefully it will come by next week, before break!)

So I have another class at 1:30 until 6:30 (I hate this class) and I was like "Ahh, I don't wanna go." Because I never want to go.

And Jess, my roommate, is like, "Skip it! You've never skipped a class." And I was like, "Uh. No." And I explained that our homework is due today and today is a binder check of our past work. Besides, I'm not going to skip a class just because I don't want to go. Know why? MassArt's policy is that you miss 2 classes without good reason, you fail that class. Of course a lot of teachers aren't that harsh, but this one IS.

Besides, I'm not breaking my perfect record now. :P

Then she was like, "Wow, I can't imagine going to all my classes..."

Okay, so then if that's the case, stop pretending you want to step up your game this semester. Because, obviously, you don't, even if you said that you do. Just sayin'! :>

I love how my Brazilian roommate can't believe that I not only like reggaeton, but that I also have Daddy Yankee.

She keeps saying, "I can't BELIEVE you're singing along to these songs... that you have these songs... it's so awesome!"

I probably seemed like such the white girl up until this point.

This dress is awesome.

I haven't owned a dress since like... elementary school? Or 6th grade. But I HAVE been wearing skirts more.

Anyway, I will somehow obtain this.

In other news, j/k about the Artesian fursuit, I'm gonna get a costume of this character instead:
http://kittiara.deviantart.com/art/Ki-rami-Concept-Sheet-113943830

It's about time I completed my damn Renn Faire persona! I have the bodice and nothing else. e_e

Also how dorky is this: In my dream last night I had a toony but really cute Kittiara fursuit head. CHINA SHUT UP

We have class off today because it's professional day, but I have a lot of work to do so I'll return to never updating.

Adios!

Firefly is a kickass series. Just finished all the episodes, though since I have a morning class, I'll be watching the movie tomorrow. My kickass friend Sara/Gasmask/Earwig (P.S. go look up her art now, Earwig @ DeviantArt and Gasmask @ FurAffinity) turned me onto it, and boy am I turned on. :B

It's rare that I like television shows, but this one is genuinely awesome. Every character is compelling, mysterious, likable AND dislikable, but each has their role to play and they play it very well.

Also, my god I laugh so hard sometimes. You can find episodes on Hulu, though I just torrented them. It's like... a Sci-Fi Western. Love it to bits and pieces.

Time to go to bed and wake up for my gods-forsaken Form Study class!

Okay. God damn it. I'm taking this class "Visual Language II" that is required of all freshman. Oddly, we cover shit like SOUND DESIGN and VIDEO in this class... which is like, okay, I guess that is useful for roughly two out of god knows how many majors at this school. Fine.

The shitty part? She wants us to buy Firewire hard drives. Now, I have a PERFECTLY GOOD USB 2.0 WD PASSPORT. She was getting bitchy at us, but Firewire isn't all that much faster; Darren never had a problem with it when he was taking a class in the sound design MAJOR.

The catch?

USB is apparently not compatible with the cameras we'll be using.

The end result? I am going to have to buy an ENTIRELY NEW HARD DRIVE, WHICH I DON'T NEED.

CAPSLOCK.

Seriously, this is abusrd. Simply fucking absurd. I can't believe that this is required for a freshman-year course. I don't HAVE the money to drop on this shit. I'll pay $100 in supplies like oil paints, because I will probably USE THOSE AGAIN. I do NOT need another external hard drive (least of all a firewire) and I am livid that it's required of us.

Also I don't see why it should be a problem. We won't be loading video from our cameras directly to the fucking external anyway. Camera --> School's Mac --> my USB hard drive.

God, what the fuck ever. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I guess waste another hundred bucks or else get a marked-down grade. Or some other alternative. Bull fucking shit, they KNOW we can't toss around cash like this. Fucking pricks.

Oh, and buying another USB hard drive would be semi-okay with me, because WD Passports can be had at a decent price, but a FIREWIRE? I... am not entirely sure that would even be fucking compatible with my laptop, which would render it completely fucking useless after this semester. Whoever plans these courses should probably just fall onto the nearest subway tracks.

Slumdog Millionaire is an amazing movie. I had heard that, yes, but I didn't know just HOW amazing until I saw it. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it, never felt bored, and was taken up in the rollercoaster of events. I love how the story was told; not linear, but not confusing in its take on events, either.

The music is also awesome, haha.

I'm just... wow, kick ass. :

I... think I'm gonna have to go for this costume. It's an ideal time, while I can still raise my own money pretty quickly without worrying about paying rent or life's necessities thanks to parents. Also, it's worth it just to own a gorgeous piece of custom work for... honestly not that much money! I've never regretted commissioning my bodice, even when I don't wear it THAT much. Because it's gorgeous and I love owning the physical representation of something I drew.

I think that this would be the same. I've never laid down this much of my own money before, but I'm pretty sure I'm prepared to do it! And since it'll be realistic, I won't be a complete 'tard while I'm wearing it. It'll look more like a theatre costume than a dorky mascot suit.

Also, god damnit, I've been lusting after the idea of a GOOD "fursuit"/costume for years. I want to finally see one of my characters come alive, damn it. That's what this is all about-- a character EXISTING in physical space somehow.

Phew... well, now to wait for her to open up for commissions.

Onwards to homework and to my own commissions!

Worry!
Okay, so!

I finally drew up a character sheet for Artesian: http://kittiara.deviantart.com/art/Artesian-Character-Sheet-110941223

Now, ever since I started noticing fursuits and also noticing that they didn't HAVE to be retarded (or even fursuits; they could be *costumes*, LoL), I wanted to know if I could get an Artesian one. If it was even possible! And I've always wavered in an out of being obsessed with this notion (even moreso than a Kittiara costume; not as interested in that right now).

In any case, I emailed http://qarrezel.deviantart.com/ about a quote and I'm seriously jazzed about knowing how terribly much it'll cost. :I /lie

And I went through that phase where I wanted a partial of Kitt from MixedCandy/LatinVixen (like 1500$$), but I've been thinking, and if I'm going to EVER get a crazy costume, it might as well be over the top, right? Therefore, Artesian. That way I could actually get into a new character and be totally submerged in it.

I've always loved acting; it simply wasn't my focus during highschool or, well, ever. But it's so amazingly fun to me; my friends will know that I tend to be very dramatic. I'm not naturally that way, but sometimes I just put on my acting persona, and BAM! Watkinson dudes, any time I ever strutted around or acted bold or ridiculous (most of the time), that was me putting on a show. Anyway, that's why I think it would be great to get a body-concealing costume; I could get completely into a character!

One issue is, of course, money. The other is, how much would I actually use it? If it was from Qarrezel and gorgeous, I think the answer is: as much as possible! Another problem is, well... Darren really isn't into the whole face-concealing costume thing, and definitely not into furry conventions or suits or what have you. And it sucks a little to think that maybe this would be something only I could enjoy. He likes Qarrezel's work too, though.. it's just the murry furries he's leery of. XD Also the idea of not seeing somebody's face, which is understandable.

But every time I think I've put the urge to rest, it comes back even more powerful. At least I don't feel the need to try and... MAKE my own suit. Pfft, fuck that. I like sculpting, but I don't have the time or supplies to build up my skills and create something lovely. My focus is 2D art.

TL;DR: BOY THERE SURE ARE A LOT OF REDXIII FURSUITS I WISH PEOPLE WOULD STOP MAKING THEM.

Well, I knew it was coming, but oh my god.

Cramping still sucks. I can't wait for menopause. ;;

It's remarkable how cramps are able to bring you to your knees so fucking fast. Even if you're typically good at dealing with pain, dealing with such internal, gnawing, throbbing pain is reaaally insistent.

EVERY TIME. I am like, "okay, my period is coming, lets get the advil and pads ready" but this time I didn't have advil and the store doesn't open until FUCKING ELEVEN.

bawwww.

Meanwhile, though, I'm feeling artistically good, namely concerning commissions.

Okay, Inauguration gushing MOSTLY aside...

MassArt broadcast it live in the auditorium, which was awesome.

Listening to Obama speak is... amazing. Not only do I NOT WINCE when he opens his mouth, I'm taken up in his passion and his message. The flow of his speech is excellent; it brings the listener up and down smoothly; his speech made us face the grim challenges but then gave us hope. And that's amazing.

Also, he fucking mentioned NON-BELIEVERS alongside other religious groups in his speech.

Do you guys... fucking REALIZE how insane that is? Bush would never have admitted non-believers to be legit citizens, MUCH LESS talked about them along with devout believers!

Oh man. That hit me out of left field, you guys. I mean, I think Obama's great, but I never expected that simply because it's like, you know. America doesn't like to admit that there are people who don't believe in the more common gods (at least) and especially not the people who don't believe in any at all.

Today seems warmer than it actually is.

ALSO THIS IS AWESOME, JOHN WILLIAMS COMPOSED THE OBAMA PRESIDENCY THEME SONG (that's what it is, don't lie). Brb, downloading Air and Simple Gifts.

My suitemate brought a TV to the dorm, which on first thought is pretty awesome (especially if I get my GameCube up here), but on second thought sort of sucks.

Okay.

I'll be going to the Alumni thing at the First and Last Cafe. Will probably be visiting Watkinson with Sean soon, as well, since I apparently totally missed the day when a bunch of you guys were going. I'll see y'all some other time, I guess!

Gonna hang with Sean today, get a burger, and call the place that fixed my laptop because on top of some other obnoxious shit (they only reinstalled file folders, resulting in my losing a bunch of music files and also program and game data, also the ethernet port wasn't working and that was discovered to be because the function was turned off in BIOS... leading me to believe they were dicking around in BIOS because I sure didn't), they installed Windows Vista Business N.

Windows Vista Business was what I had installed before. Business N is the version used in... wait for it...

The European Union. Another telltale sign is that it does NOT come with Windows Media Player-- something Darren and I puzzled over because we couldn't find it on the machine and we had to go download it manually. NOW WE KNOW.

Problem: My product key is for Windows Vista Business. NOT Business N. What were they smoking? The world may never know. But anyway, that means I cannot activate Windows unless I want to buy an entirely new Business N product key, which I fucking refuse to do. Remember, everybody: Make sure you hold these people by the balls or they WILL fuck up.

In other news, spending the holidays with Darren was awesome; we played a lot of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl because we're awesome like that, and of course there was tons of obligatory snuggling. He's back at college now, and I'll be going back the 19th or so. I want to try and see people before I go, but it's hard to find the time (and the rides). Began painting a pic (digitally) yesterday that I'm really enjoying. Basically feeling pretty happy aside from the laptop bullshit.

Cheers!

FYI I did routine updates on my laptop and it decided once it restarted that it had no idea I ever had an OS on my system. My recovery disc is at home and I can't access that until Saturday- provided it's where I put it originally. I'm praying my hard drive is fine and it's just the OS..

the worrying thing is that when I use a boot disc (using a burned .iso found online) it doesn't recognize that I have a hard drive to boot at all... even though in BIOS it registers the laptop as having its 80GB harddrive and that it's apparently fine.. what? I won't know for sure until I use that recovery disc but all I want at this point is to siphon off my data (I keep most of my shit on an external hard drive... except there is a SCHOOL FINAL that I kind of desperately want back... I had a shitty printout of it, but never got to assemble it how I wanted and I'm proud of it. Also, of course, the teacher wants to see it if at all possible.

Anyway I just want my data back. fffffuck

I don't know if I can properly convey how exhausted I am after casting my plaster mold today, then taking it apart once the plaster inside had set (for effect: Chiseling, hammering, and sawing happen in copious amounts throughout all of this). I spent effectively... five and a half, nearly 6 hours doing this (after a 4-hour Drawing critique this morning, so been up for a while now).

And after the cast came out pretty damn nicely (some dings to fix, and reattached part of his ear), I CARRIED IT BACK TO MY DORM FFFFFF

It's a LOT lighter than the clay version, but the plaster inside is still drying, so it was heavy enough that by the time I got to the 9th floor where I live, I was ready to throw him right back out the window. god damn

Getting to a point with my finals where I feel less stressed. Yesterday was dedicated to my Drawing final, and know what's awesome? No classes Monday, and it's due Tuesday, so I have two more days to work on it if I need. If I don't need, then I work on Visual Language. whoo

I was walking to art history with this girl who's in some of my classes (she's really nice) and she was wearing this shirt with a Superman logo. We were talking and this random dude on the streetcorner was like "Oh wow it's Superman can I get an autograph" and she barely glanced at him as we kept walking, so I took a hint and kept talking, but the guy was like, "or maybe your number?"

Thankfully we were epic at ignoring him, which I'm just good at in gneral, but I guess she's experienced at ignoring seedy-looking random dudes hitting on her.

boy, I do not envy her. ewwww.

I don't think that guy even goes to MassArt.
